Dance classes at The Carol Godby Theatre Workshop take place weekly and are very popular. Young people can start the classes from the age of 4 up to age 18.
As with our drama classes, the main aim of the dance classes is to build confidence but also to have fun whilst learning. The dance classes are very varied, teaching freestyle street dance as opposed to limiting pupils to one specific area. The classes are styled to be a collaboration between the teachers and pupils often working towards routines that can be showcased. We use a large variety of popular music when devising pieces in order to appeal to all individuals.
Members of the dance classes are always given the opportunity to take up to two examinations per year, in street dance, through UKA Examination Board.
Although our classes endeavour to be great fun we maintain our professional approach to teaching and many of our pupils have gone on to further their training at accredited dance schools and have gone on to professional work as dancers with a great background and discipline behind them.
